As always, we are thrilled to show you pictures of one of our real brides. Meet Cassie, who sent us these images along with a very sweet letter below. "...Greetings from Michigan! My name is Cassie and I recently wed the most amazing man, Nick on August 13, 2011. We are from a small town in southern Michigan. The same small town we swore we would never come back to after college. But as fate would have it, we made the same choice to choose careers that led us home. I met Nick in our small historic downtown the night he graduated from dental school . It only seemed fitting that our wedding would take place were it all started.

With the key components in place we started on the details. We wanted to honor the character of our community and the beauty of historic downtown. We wanted the whole day to feel glamorous but still have a vintage charm. With those components in mind, I knew I had to have an over the top headpiece. The ones I had viewed in the bridal salon were underwhelming and didn't have the drama I was needing. When I found Castle Bridal Couture I knew I had found the right veil. I chose the Belinda birdcage veil from the Haute Couture collection. It was one of the defining details of the wedding that made the day complete... and to be honest, it was the most photographed!..."

"...Thank you so much! Despite all the hullabaloo of pre-wedding preparations, not to mention all the weather warnings of showers for that day, we all had a wonderful time, with lots of music, dancing, food, and laughter. As soon as the clouds cleared for our outdoor ceremony, we knew it was a sign for the rest of the night. My extensive family made up the majority of the guests and had great fun mixing with my husband's family who came in from out of town to enjoy our customs and general folly (I'm originally Iranian). I'm happy to say everyone had a great time, but most of all me and Paul. And again, thank you for creating such a lovely veil, retro yet modern, elegant and fun!..."

Meet Real Bride Kristine and her hubby Joshua!

Kristine was nice enough to send us both photos as well as a lovely paragraph about her wedding, we'll keep her own words here since only she can tell her story best!

"...My name is Kristine and I was born and raised in Los Angeles. I graduated from Cal State Fullerton and currently work for a Financial Management firm in Orange. My husband's name is Joshua and we've been together for 7 years. Our wedding day was May 8, 2010. 200 guests attended our special day which started with a very traditional Catholic ceremony. Our reception was at a beautiful venue called Summit House in Fullerton. Our colors were purples, blues and ivory. We had beautiful centerpieces and bouquets that consisted of bright hydrangeas, roses and lilies. One of the highlights of the evening was our favor table that had jars full of yummy candies. It was such a hit with our guests that there were huge lines for it! In addition to our wedding cake, we had a Lakers cake because my husband and I are huge Laker fans. Everyone thought it was cute and definitely represented us. The whole night was amazing, I couldn't have asked for a more perfect husband and wedding!
My veil was absolutely gorgeous and everyone kept complimenting it throughout the night. I attached some photos from the ceremony and reception,
the photos were taken by Edna Eudave..."

Meet Real Bride Amanda Burrigato

Amanda Burigatto & Patrick Brogan were married on May 31, 2009 in the Father of the Bride's hometown of Concordia Sagittaria outside of Venice Italy. The bride wore a Junko Yoshioka dress, shoulder length veil doubled with a CastleBride Couture Adelaide birdcage veil and red Valentino shoes. The bridesmaides each work white and accessorized their hair with the Jamie CastleBride Couture pieces. After the ceremony in the Cattedrale San Stefano, whose original structure dates to the seventh century B.C., all of the 140 guests both from Italy and the US were taken to the city of Venice and escorted onto private Vaporetti (water taxis) to the reception location.

The "Sale del Ridotto" in the former Palazzo Dandolo--which is now the Hotel Monaco--was the site for the Baroque reception of the Bride and Groom. The "Sale del Ridotto" were the original gambling rooms of Venice in the 14th and 15th centuries and served as a meeting place for artists, writers business men. The adoption of the Venetian masks only made it easier for all classes to entertain in these rooms and meet secretly. It is said that Casanova partook in the games and debauchery of the Sale del Ridotto often.

The newlyweds took photos in Piazza San Marco, the Ponte Rialto and some of the most picturesque spots in the city of Venice. The rain showers ended up being a blessing, clearing the otherwise packed Piazza to get some wonderful photos! The bride and groom arrived at the reception, just in time for the bride to change her white veil to the crimson piece that matched her red shoes. The room filled with Crimson and White plumes recreated the Baroque feel of the past and the handmade Venetian masks given to each guest as a gift from the bride and groom evoked the feelings of indulgence and celebration of the past!

Back in January of 2009 we hosted a veil giveaway with the beloved weddingbee.com and real bride Eileen O'Rourke was our winner. Check out her stunning Anya birdcage veil by CastleBride Couture.

An urban couple living and working in the Second City, Eileen and Jeremy planned a simple, elegant affair with timeless classic elements. The black and white damask-themed wedding set against the lush backdrop of the Chicago Botanic Garden included little vintage touches like champagne saucers and framed black and white photos of the couple's parents' weddings.

The bride donning a Reem Acra sheath wore her hair in pin curls with pin-up styled makeup. Castle Bride Couture's Anya veil completed her vintage look. Both bride and groom proudly sported matching vintage wedding bands that belonged to the bride's late parents. It was an affair to remember, and Eileen received many compliments on her uniquely vintage-styled look and amazing couture veil.

These incredible flowers are thanks to Bella Blooms. Dark pinks and reds, dripping with diamonds, and accented with ostrich feathers... they set the stage for a very romantic reception. The candles and rose petal display below are just about the prettiest we have ever seen.

This reception looks like it was a blast. The umbrellas are a very cute touch!

Meet our stunning real life couple: Jen and Tim. Married way back on June 28, 2009 the couple tied the knot in Bradford Massachusets.
The couple currently live in Southern California where Tim is a dentist and Jen is a nurse.
The bride had an incredible 12 bridesmaids who wore floor length Champagne gowns.

I love that this shot looks like it could be a magazine cover. The bride wore a dress by Maggie Sottero in a light gold with champagne accent flowers.

Jen's custom CastleBride Couture birdcage veil:
The bride sent us a fascinator matching her dress which we fashioned into a matching headpiece for her wedding. The french net birdcage veil that she wore was a perfect compliment to her gown!

The ceremony was held at the First Church of Christ in Bradford Massachusetts.

Red roses were a them woven through the wedding as well as the reception.

The reception was also held in Bradford Mass. at the Bradford country club. Jen chose to wear her birdcage veil throughout the reception, pulling it back a bit farther on her hair as an accent.

When I first met Shara ericson, we were both about 20 and living the college life. I'd refrain from adding any incriminating photos of us, but rest assure I have some. Shara has an electric personality that can light up a room and excite anyone to join in on her fun. And it looks like she finally met her match in Brian Mock! Danielle wore and ivory strapless gown and a fur over her right shoulder. Her wedding gown was accented with a bow on the back, and in a very sweet touch, her bridesmaids gown had a very cute coordinating bow on the front.

Birdcage veils have made their comeback in the past three years thanks to some featured appearances on the silver screen.

Reece Witherspoon won our hearts in the movie Sweet Home Alabama.

The Fantastic Four, starring Jessica Alba featured a birdcage veil in her on screen wedding ceremony. Katherine Heigl and Josh Kelley, who tied the knot way back in December 23, 2008. Its been a few months since her wedding, but with vintage fashion, a few months is nothing! Check out her dress and sweet birdcage veil below. Notice the vintage teardrop earrings too.

katherine pulled back her birdcage veil a bit for the reception. A very good idea! All CastleBride Couture birdcage veils are mounted on a comb, so they are easily repositioned in the hair. This makes moving your veil for the reception a cinch.

Go with Gold

There is no better way to accent a vintage wedding, than with gold.
We just can't get enough of Gold. The chandelier below is to die for! Many companies let you rent beauties like this for your big day. Also, check out these fantastic shoes. The bow is super hot.

Although baby blue is most often combined with silver, Go with gold for an old Hollywood feel. While you not be up for a blue wedding dress (see below) go with the baby blue for your shoes, jewelry, or cake.
For a winter wedding, a dark green and gold combo is always a hit. I especially love the gold detailing on the cake below.

And for my all time favorite, Gold and Brown. So many options here. This color combo makes everything look glam and gorgeous. I love these coffees below with the long straws. Also, the monogrammed truffles. Adding a bow to the invites, or picking gold embossed envelopes... It all works to make your wedding fabulous.

Black and White Weddings

There is almost nothing as classic as a black and white wedding. Seeing some photos from Justine Ungaro's wedding over at www.theunbride.com got me thinking about this. When you go classic, you will never regret it. Black and whit can be vintage or modern. I love this zebra printed cow hide shown below as a wedding day accent. Also, the guinnea feather napkin holders below!
A dash of color to the black and white palate can be just the right accent. I love the monochromatic flower arrangements on the tables below. It makes them really Pop! And while your at it, why not give your cake a little bling as well? I love this feathery brooch with ribbon on the cake below. Another tip: follow a theme throughout your entire wedding. If you are wearing a feathered veil, put some on the flower girl, in the bouquets, table decor etc...

Two days before her 30th birthday, Michelle got engaged. Michelle, from Long Island and her fiance Luke, from Buffalo were married in Brooklyn on 9/14/08. Their ceremony took place at Brooklyn Bridge Park on a pebble beach overlooking Manhattan. Her bridesmaids wore flip flops (which I love) and tea length dresses. Better known as Miss.Pomegranite on the site weddingbee.com When I saw her photos, I had to share. Kate's wedding was a black and white damask dream. Kate requested a custom made birdcage veil to match her custom dress. She mailed us scraps of silver lambskin from her dress and we used them to form a beautiful two layer leather flower backed with brilliant guinnea feathers. There are so many pictures that get lost in a photo shoot. Its really just too bad that when you smile, and i mean REALLY smile, your eyes get all crinkled up or you throw your head back so far all the camera gets is chin. Now those are the most awesome moments of the photo shoot- and yet they never get shared. Now- heres some REAL CastleBride modeling... not those awesome shots for the magazine or the catalogue. The FUN shots, those ones that made us laugh so so hard.

Ahh, America's sweetheart is all the much sweeter. Married at Christmas, she was in true vintage fashion. A mermaid dress and a birdcage veil. Thanks to her, the demand for my veils has gone way up. Thank you Katherine Heigle.

A trip to the Philippines

My trip to the Philppines was a few months ago, but I finally downloaded the photos and cropped out all the nonsense. It was a great trip, a little long (4 weeks is a long long time to be away from the hubby). The husband and the puppies survived, so I guess that means it was worth it.
The short story is that I was doing a study of the Health Information System (HIS) used in the Barangay health units. (Unless you are into public health measures and know a bit about the Philippines, you are totally lost). Here are some pictures from the vacation part of my trip.

So, yeah... this is me trying to balance on a raft I found in this crater lake.

So, we hiked a very long way up a old volcano, and wouldn't you know.. the top was full of rainwater. Its "fresh" but my skin was stained orange... hmmm.
Probably not that Fresh after all.

Now this is a real hike. I mean true bushwhacking.
I checked myself very carefully for leaches afterwards.
